Legoland Windsor is an English theme park based on the best-selling toy, Lego. The popular attraction began to advertise for a new ‘Model Maker’ and got an unexpected – but totally understandable applicant – a six-year-old boy!
Stanley Bolland, from Waterlooville, Hampshire, applied for the job which involves building lego structures for the theme park. Given how child-orientated the park is, you’d have thought he had a shot. According to the job description, the ideal applicant would have experience in product design, IT and design packages, and an “interest or knowledge about Lego and creation of Lego models”. The right person for the job would be rewarded with a “competitive annual salary”, 20 days of holiday and 40% discount on Lego kits. That discount would certainly come in handy for a six-year-old… Sadly, Stanley does not have those skills (yet), however, his adorable resume is proof that he’s got a very bright future ahead of him. Read his application here, and weep at how adorable it is… It’s not known how Stanley found the job advert, but no one can deny that he thought he was right the “man” for the job, despite his young age. If this isn’t a standout application, I don’t know what is!
“Dear Sir/Madam, I am six years old and I love Lego [and] have a box of it. “I hide my Lego so my brother cant get it. I am the man [for] the job because I have lots of experience. Love, Stanley. (ref: model builders job)”
There’s no doubt that this adorable application is something that Stanley will look back on in years to come and smile. This is how the park’s management responded to his application:
“Loving Lego is the first step to being a model maker, so it certainly sounds like you’ll be perfect for the job (once you’ve finished school of course). “In the meantime, and because you say you’re the man for the job, we’d love to offer you a one-off work experience day with our model makers.”
Even though he didn’t get the job, Stanley was delighted when he got to visit the park and be a grown up for the day. He’s pictured here as he went around the resort with professional model maker, Ms Laughton. “It was awesome to spend the whole day at Legoland meeting the model makers and learning all about what they do every day,” he said. “I loved it and I can’t wait to tell all my friends about it at school.” Stanley, who has recently turned seven-years-old, got a chance to learn about how important it was to keep all of the models clean and in good condition. He also got a chance to see how the models are repaired. We wish Stanley all the best with his school career. If he works hard enough, his dream of being a professional model maker at Legoland will become a reality. This trip has clearly inspired him anyway! Maybe one day, Stanley could create something as magnificent as this Lego recreation of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding:
