Remy Aluna, a 16-year-old student at Beaumont High School in Southern California, was sent to the principal’s office and chastised for not wearing a bra to school. On Aug. 16, Aluna spoke out about the incident on her personal Twitter—adding images of her outfit and a note explaining the situation. “BHS is so out of line. Now they want to dress code you for not wearing a bra. My underwear is none of their business,” Aluna tweeted.

In the note posted on Twitter, Aluna describes the incident where her principal called her out for having on a shirt with a low back and wearing no bra. The principal allegedly said she did not want people to see Aluna’s outfit and “assume bad things.” According to Cosmopolitan, the school dress code states that shirts “must cover all parts of undergarments and shall not be low cut or revealing.”

After going to the assistant principal’s office, Aluna was told cover her shirt with a jacket. Aluna thinks that the school and principal should worry more about students reacting to her outfit rather than the outfit itself. “If Mrs. Weber is concerned about people talking about my appearance she should focus on dealing with the students behaving inappropriately,” Aluna tweeted.
