Getting engaged is serious business – just ask Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – so it’s paramount that you get it right. Some may think that the perfect proposal is rich with romance, while others are satisfied as long as their partner gets down on one knee when popping the question.
Once you and your partner have agreed to spend the rest of your lives together, you can plan how you’ll announce it to the world. Should you call everyone? Or should you save yourself some time and inform everyone in bulk via Facebook? The latter is often the most popular choice. However, once again, it’s important to get it right, and there are some key things to remember when announcing an engagement on Facebook. You should be mindful of world events (no one wants an engagement announcement during a global disaster), make sure you tag your partner and not an acquaintance with a similar name in haste, and, most importantly, pay special care to the picture you upload. Something this couple failed to do… Miranda Levy was so desperate to announce her engagement that she forgot to check her post before sending it out for everyone to see. “I am truly blessed today as the love of my life has asked me to marry him,” she wrote, elated. “He wasn’t able to give me a real ring yet, but what matters is what’s on the inside. I know that we’ll be happy together, regardless of material things.” But while she stressed the importance of material objects, her friends were quick to notice a rogue object in their photograph that rendered her endearing statement invalid. It also explained why her new fiancé hadn’t been able to get her a ring… In the bottom left-hand corner of the picture lay a suspicious looking item, which seemed to hint the real reason for the couple’s sudden engagement. It didn’t take long for eagle-eyed Facebook users to point it out. There was an open box on the sofa which quite clearly contained a pregnancy test. The couple are clearly oblivious to the fact that they’re announcing more than just their engagement as they cozy up to one another for the benefit of the camera. “Is that what I think it is in the corner?” asked one eagle-eyed friend, while another simply added, “Yo lmfao, gotta crop this guys.” Before Levy realized her mistake, another friend typed, “Well, I guess what’s on ‘the inside’ really does matter.” “What so you’re pregnant too?” enquired another friend, while her perplexed parents wrote, “Honey, you should call us. Your mother is confused.” Levy, upon reading her post back, quickly realized her mistake and decided that the best course of action was to simply admit the truth. “Oh,” she simply typed, before posting another status update that read, “Hey guys, we’re having a baby too.” At least this Facebook post is easier to explain that her bulging belly in her wedding photos! Levy isn’t the only person to make a huge blunder during the crucial engagement process. Check out this guy who made the biggest mistake of his life as he got down on one knee to ask his girlfriend to marry him. Watch his pain in the video below: We hope that both couples are now happily together, despite their huge mistakes!
